Hi, I’m Kasie Nette, and I work in Economic Development for the City of Joliet. I focus on business retention and expansion, strategic reuse of city-owned properties, and developing policies that support equitable and long-term economic growth. A big part of my work involves analyzing data—like vacancy rates, unemployment trends, and construction valuation—to guide decisions and better understand what’s happening on the ground.
I’m currently preparing to start my Master’s in Urban Planning and Policy at UIC this fall, which I’m really excited about. I’m always looking for ways to connect the day-to-day work of local government with broader planning goals that make our communities stronger and more sustainable.
Whether it’s drafting redevelopment RFPs, building incentive policy, or meeting with businesses to better understand their needs, I love this work because it’s about real people, real places, and helping cities thrive in meaningful ways.
I care deeply about the people behind the data, and I’m always thinking about how our work can foster real outcomes—more stable jobs, stronger neighborhoods, and lasting investment in Joliet.
Outside of work, I love being outdoors, especially fishing and camping, I love attending concerts and I love many genres of music, and I’m always up for a good road trip or a conversation with someone new.
