After several years with architectural firms, I went to work for the Texas Historical Commission, providing technical recommendations for historic buildings. Soon, I became more interested in helping the people who wanted to preserve historic buildings than in working with the buildings themselves. For ten years, I helped county governments across Texas preserve and promote their history and historic fabric. Now, I work with Texas Main Street communities, residents, and partner organizations to revitalize downtowns and save the cultural and historic resources that contribute to the character of our great state.
