Hi friends! My name is Danielle Jacobs and I am the Executive Director at Dubuque Main Street (DMS) here in Iowa. DMS is the longest continuously running urban Main Street program in the country! The program was one of seven pilot cities with over 50k population that tested the approach in 1984 and obviously, it worked incredibly well for us. In 1995, Dubuque received the Great American Main Street Award.
We have 10 districts that cover 235 blocks. The west side of our downtown is located along the Mississippi River. Our east side is next to tall bluffs that were untouched by the glaciers that flatted areas all around us.
This is my 8th year managing a Main Street program. I was previously in Freeport, Illinois.
